About the Organisation
London Joy of Music was founded in 2021 by two esteemed and passionate piano educators from Hong Kong, Megan and Sandy. Having relocated to the UK, they wish to enhance the atmosphere of music education in the community by providing collective education and chances of performance to the general public. With a strong commitment to fostering a love for music, they have embarked on a journey to make quality music education and ignite a lifelong passion, accessible to and for everyone.

Megan Cheng
co-founder

Megan is a professional piano teacher and experienced accompanist currently based in Chelmsford, UK. She is a fellow of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) in piano performance. She has been enthusiastic in playing the piano since her young age. She won many prizes along her piano journey, e.g. champion in the Asia-Pacific Piano Competition, and 1st runner-up in the Hong Kong Children & Youth Piano Contest.
Megan devotes herself to the career of music teaching after university graduation. She has been teaching as a senior teacher at a Hong Kong’s renowned piano academy, GMC Music, for over 10 years. She successfully coached numerous students to excel in various examinations and competitions. Many of which even managed to attain high distinctions (over 140 out of 150 marks) in ABRSM examinations. Furthermore, she received teacher commendations from different competitions and associations. For example, the Gold Prize Teacher Award from Hong Kong Children & Youth Piano Contest (2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023), Best Teacher Award from China European International Music Festival 2022, Excellence Education Guidance Award from the Taiwan Asia Aegean Sea Music Competition (2022 and 2023) and more.
Megan now explores her music journey in the UK through collaborations with local musicians, providing piano accompaniment for gigs and concerts.
Sandy Ho
co-founder
Sandy is an esteemed music teacher and the co-founder of the London Joy of Music Organisation. She holds the LRSM Piano Performance Licentiate and Grade 8 Singing certifications from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools Of Music in the United Kingdom. With a deep passion for music, Sandy actively participates in choir performances, having contributed to notable works such as Ravel's "Daphnis et Chloé" with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Choir and Mozart's "Requiem" with the Hong Kong Bach Choir.
Before relocating to the UK, she served as a senior piano teacher at the promising Hong Kong-based music school, GMC Music, for 16 years. Since her move, Sandy has continued her work in music education and has also embarked on entrepreneurial ventures. In 2021, she founded the Hong Kongers' singing group "GiveMeAName," providing a platform for fellow Hong Kongers to showcase their vocal talents and celebrate their cultural heritage. In 2023, Sandy co-founded "the Match Man," a Cantonese children's musical project aimed at preserving Cantonese language and Hong Kong culture through the medium of music and drama. The project concluded successfully in January 2024, leaving a lasting impact.
Sandy's love for music extends beyond her personal achievements. Drawing on her extensive knowledge and skills, she is dedicated to creating an environment that fosters the growth of emerging talent, encourages artistic exploration, and promotes cultural diversity. Through her work in music education and her entrepreneurial endeavors, Sandy strives to nurture the next generation of musicians and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Hong Kong.
